The Journey Elements

Collaborative Learning

Six half day workshops with mix of theory, coaching practice and connection with colleagues working towards the same qualification. (Details of coverage in these sessions is outlined in Appendix A.)

Four action learning sets which provide group supervision, supporting reflection and learning on early coaching experience

Practice

Maintaining two coaching relationships throughout the programme:
1. A peer coaching relationship with a colleague from within the same learning cohort
2. Coaching another person, ideally from your own organisation.

Personal Learning

Using our virtual learning platform Promote to access a range of articles, videos, self—assessments and practice tasks. Structured reflection on experience to include video and written journalling in a coaching diary.

What will it take to achieve this award?

  • Six practical learning sessions (28 hours)
  • At least four action learning sets (approx. 10 hours)
  • Provide coaching to at least two different people, and maintain a reflective coaching diary (approx. 20 hours)
  • Carry out self-study (16 hours)
  • Prepare for and take part in a professional discussion.

Success requirements

To complete the programme, and attain the CMI Level 5 Award, participants need to attend all learning sessions, including an induction session.

Undertake two coaching sessions, which will be observed and complete a written reflection on those sessions.

Participants will finally need to respond to a set of predetermined questions on coaching theory.

Completion of the programme will enable you to achieve a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 5 Award in Professional Coaching Practice

*your registration for this qualification will give you free Affiliate membership of CMI through until the completion of your studies
